A warm welcome...

Hello hello!

On behalf of the chaplaincy team may I warmly welcome you to CathSoc here at University of Warwick. My name is Fr. Harry Curtis and I am a priest  and the Catholic Chaplain for the University.

If you want to come to Mass in the chaplaincy, if you a Confession, if you want an ear to share your good news with, or a shoulder to cry on, if you want someone to talk to about God who won’t be embarrassed at the idea – the list goes on – I am here for you.

Fr. Louis McRaye, one of the founding fathers of the Chaplaincy (who at 97 has just retired from active ministry!), recalls celebrating Mass in makeshift tents where the Rootes buildings are today. It was during his time and through his initiative, together with the Anglican colleague and others, that the Chaplaincy came to be as it is today, with the generous contribution of the mainstream Christian Churches; Catholics and Anglican Churches playing a major role, and the Jewish community having an important share in it.

The Catholic Chaplaincy, and therefore the Chaplaincy in general, is supported by the Archdiocese of Birmingham and that is how the Chaplaincy has continued to have the presence of a (nearly) full time priest chaplain, independent of the University.

Come, and make your home with us :)

I look forward to meeting you. May God bless you in all your undertakings.

Fr. Harry Curtis

   Catholic Chaplain and friend
